About Me
About Me
Born and raised in southern New Hampshire to Jean-Louis and Yolande Nicknair, Both his parents were very hard working and from families with not much money, but very big hearts.
Early on, Guy lived on a small farm with animals, garden, barn and haying fields. Between helping his Papa with the renovating of the 150 year old farm house and yard work, summers were filled with family productivity. He bailed hay every summer. On saturdays was house cleaning day and as long as he completed his chores by 12 noon he was given the rest of the day to play. Television cartoon watching on saturdays was never permitted.
Summers seemed a very busy time even when he would spend time at the family “Camp,” in northern Maine. It was always fun to be with all the relatives on a lake called St. Froid, (this means cold in french) in a town called Winterville. The water usually was! Because the Camp was only used in the summer, there was always work to be done. Everyday he did something to make the Camp a better place to visit. The rule was to work no more than 3 hours per day on camp chores and after he could have the rest of the day off to leisure. Boating, swimming and playing cards were the main sources of entertainment. Cribbage was the card game of choice. Maybe at the time, this may not have been realized, but eating is also the Nicknair’s “other,” favorite activity. Breakfast was on your own, lunch at noon and dinner at 5pm, of course, on time. Camp was always fun!
Because there was so much to do at our home in New Hampshire, Guy’s family stayed only a short period of time at the Camp every summer.
With all the renovations at the farm house, Jean-Louis developed a love 0f carpentry. At 13 years old Papa, Guy, Luc, Danny and Jim (Guy’s older brother and two cousins) proceeded to build a brand new home from the ground up in a nearby town from where they lived in the farmhouse. Guy was Papa’s master cutter as he paid attention to detail.
In the new town of Henniker, NH, Jean-louis was a professor of mathematics at the small school, New England College, where there was an equally small ski area, Pat’s Peak. This is where Guy learned his passion for skiing. Summers were much too busy to play, so winter’s became a slight refuse to enjoy some of natures riches. For Guy, between working at the college part- time for his spending money, he took the opportunity to learn how to ski. And do it well he did! Being a son of a college professor in town had it’s perks. All the ski lessons he wanted at no cost, he took many. He became very good at Freestyle skiing.
Guy’s love for food eventually brought him to New Hampshire College earning him a B.S. in Hotel Restaurant Management and his love for skiing, to Colorado.
Guy came to Denver in the early 1990’s and figured out his gift of massage and quickly became one of the top massage therapist in Denver at a time when massage was not easily recognized. He soon realized that JUST receiving massage was not enough to help his clients become pain free. He began to explore movement, versus traditional weightlifting, to really open up his body, to create length with strength in his muscles.
Guy discovered GYROTONIC® methodology and eventually became a Master Trainer to further help his patients bec0me pain free and lead healthier lives. He is now one of the Top GYROTONIC® Trainers in Colorado and has the most complete and up to date private studio in Denver.
Guy’s passion for helping people to be the best that they could be, is reflected in his own life as he strives to be a better personal trainer, massage therapist and skier! What a great combination!
